So I started wondering how my 2013 numbers compared to my 2012 numbers and here’s what I came up with:
2013 books read count: 118% of 2012
2013 page count: 90% of 2012
2013 fiction count: 91% of 2012
2013 non-fiction count: 104% of 2012
2013 print books count: 92% of 2012
2013 graphic novels count: 80% of 2012
2013 eBooks count: 107% of 2012
2013 audio books count: 100% of 2012
2013 male authors count: 87% of 2012
2013 female authors count: 127% of 2012
So, I read more books in 2013 but fewer overall pages than in 2012. (i.e. shorter books this year.) I had also made a conscious effort to try and read more female authors and it looks like that was a success. (Though it’s not exactly at 50/50 and it probably never will be as there are just fewer female authors in the genres I read and most of my “read anything by this author” list is male.)
